Returning to the pages for the second time after his well received single, “Like The Hippies,” MA native, Ant G is back with his stoney new track, “Words To The Wise.” Produced by Penacho, the song is a vibey cut that strays away from trying pipe you up. With it’s eerie bass kicks along with G’s raspy flow, the clear objective of the record was for you to listen. Smoke ’till you’re slumped, but still listen.

“The idea for the song comes from my mentality,” Ant tells us via email, “The hook is basically saying, ‘don’t rely on other people because their bullshit can bring you down.’ Just worry about your grind and forget about everything else around you.” The hippie rapper also spoke on what’s next for him and his collective, stating, “Fans can always expect bars from me but my sound is always evolving. I’m trying to incorporate more melodies into my tracks and come up with as many unique flows as possible.”

With a couple tracks already starting to catch ears around the internet, it should be sooner than later that Ant G gets his fair due.

Hippie culture in Hip-Hop can be traced all the way back to it’s roots. I mean, we share more in common with our parent’s — or Grandparent’s? — generation of Flower Children in the 70s who were revolting against the Vietnam War, Racism and many more inequalities. And despite the numerous amount of times you got scolded for the papers in your sock drawer as a teen, they were also getting high as fuck. With the latter in mind, Massachusetts native, Ant G pays homage to that time with the mellowed out remix to his track, “Like The Hippies.”

Sticking to the theme and trait that the hippies were most known for,  Ant lets off intricate bars in a purposely lazy tone that plays to the track perfectly.

Check out, “Like The Hippies” and be sure to keep an eye on the East Cost rep.
